I'll stop talking about them, when idiotic mothers stop leaving their children alone with their violent, murderous, drug using, felonious boyfriends. We know how this ends. Y'all Danielle Cattie is Ebony Dorsey's mother. Mark O'Donnel is the mother's drug dealer and boyfriend of four years. Ebony is dead because she has two idiot narcissists for parents. First, the boyfriend was a married man that the mother was having an affair with. Second, he was a crackhead AND a drug dealer ( a drug dealer show uses his own product...hmmm). Third Cattie put her daughter in a situation to be alone with this @$hole! Fourth, Cattie didn't even notice Ebony was missing for almost two days. SCHOOL DAYS! Shut Up all of you who are going to say I am blaming the mother. I AM!! I'm tired of this crap.

Ebony Dorsey's mother's crackhead boyfriend raped, beat and strangled 14 year old Ebony while she was babysitting HIS 4 year-old daughter. Ebony had been driven by her mother's boyfriend to stay overnight at his apartment and watch his little girl.

Ebony Dorsey's body was found Sunday in a plastic container behind a home on Union Meeting Road in Whitpain Township. Tonight police have charged 48-year-old Mark O'Donnell with her death. O'Donnell freely admits he killed 14-year-old Ebony Dorsey. SOURCE

What is ridiculous and sad is that this pitiful excuse for a mother didn't even notice her child was missing until a day later! She was killed Thursday night, her mother didn't report her missing until Friday evening when she didn't return from school. SHE NEVER GOT TO SCHOOL FRIDAY!

Oh yeah and by the way, young Ebony managed to be a successful honors student despite having a cocaine addict for a mother who had a crackhead boyfriend.

Don't expect to see Ebony's story on NBC, CBS, ABC or CNN.

Oh and EBONY'S FATHER isn't much better!

Brothers, please for goodness sakes, if yo' baby mama is a crackhead who is coupled up with her drug dealing boyfriend and you have a daughter living in this madness, FIGHT! FIGHT FOR CUSTODY. Drag the mother into court and make her pee in a cup. In many states a positive drug screen for illegal drugs is enough for you to walk away with custody. Fight for your kids. Please for the Love of God. Wage war against these idiotic single mothers who keep handing over their daughters to their boyfriends on a silver platter.

Why the MSM Chooses to Cover Selfishness instead of Selflessness: Alexis Goggins and Robert Hawkins

Mainstream media is once again enthralled with the death of a young, angry, and murderous Caucasian male. While Robert A. Hawkins was preparing to make his mark on human history and SELFISHLY grab 15 minutes of fame by mowing down innocent civilians, Alexis Goggins a 7- year-old first grader from Detroit, MI was SELFLESSLY throwing her body in front of a gun to save the life of her mother. She took six bullets.

Um so tell me what is newsworthy about yet ANOTHER disaffected White male taking psychotropic drugs and committing mass murder before committing suicide? Cue the cameras to the family members who had NO IDEA what a homicidal little maniac was living under their own roof and can't fathom where he got an assault rifle from. Cue the statements from friends, neighbors, and classmates about how quiet or moody or introverted the gunman was. Cue the profilers who basically say , "Yeah, we could have seen this coming." Been there done that.

For those who say that the victims of these mass murderers are newsworthy, I AGREE! however, in the immediate wake of the mass slaughters, the first picture you see repeatedly on every news outlet in every newspaper is that of the KILLER not the victims. Name two victims of Columbine. Name one victim of Virginia Tech. Since these killers are now leaving press kits so that they can speak from the grave, it appears now that the news media has to do some soul searching about the role they are now playing in these homicides. The suicidal attention seekers now know that they'll finally get what they longed for in life by taking a few innocent people with them.

In my humble opinion, the news agencies ought to treat these homicidal young men in the same way that they treat juveniles and victims of sexual assault, REFUSE TO DISCLOSE THEIR IDENTITIES! If people want to know, let them look it up. Refuse to paste their pictures on every front page and news website in America. Yep, they've decided not to divulge the identities of juveniles and sexual assault victims as a matter of editorial policy. I think they need to add a category to the list: suicidal mass murderers.

There is a precedent for NOT covering suicides. In San Francisco, the newspapers stopped covering jumps from the Golden Gate bridge:

For years, local media reported every victim, and the grisly countdown reached a frenzy in 1995 as the 1,000th suicide approached. " The media agreed to stop the count. SOURCE

Why not do the same thing at the national level. Report the deaths, have a media blackout of the suicidal killer.

While mainstream media is basically ignoring the Alexis Goggins on a national level - She can't even get on the Associated Press national wire- the Blogosphere is hailing her a the hero she is and some are contrasting Alexis with Hawkins . A Google News Search brings up only 31 stories about Alexis Goggins. Robert Hawkins ( 5,423). When you type in Alexis Goggins in the Google Blog Search, you get 251 results.

Here is an interesting take on the few articles that have appeared about Alexis- Saying Nothing Charmingly appears to be upset with Fox News' article mentioning that the shooter was Alexis' mother's boyfriend twice. She thinks that it appears that they are blaming the mother:

They chose to start and finish the story with that little piece of information. No mention, though, that she'd already left him, had a restraining order out on him and he had been stalking her ever since. Nope, none of that now.So, here's a question. How many posts does it take to reach the center of the average person's capacity for victim blaming?

Interesting comment. We kind of went into that on the podcast last night. maybe the reason Alexis isn't getting coverage is because they don't find the shooting of Black women and children to be newsworthy... Oops, I'm sorry. We already know they dont.

DETROIT -- A 7-year-old-girl is being hailed as an "angel from heaven" and a hero for jumping in front of an enraged gunman, who pumped six bullets into the child as she used her body as a shield to save her mother's life.

Alexis Goggins, a first-grader at Campbell Elementary School, is in stable condition at Children's Hospital in Detroit recovering from gunshot wounds to the eye, left temple, chin, cheek, chest and right arm.

Little Alexis was shot by her mother's boyfriend, Calvin Tillie, 29, a four-time convicted felon.

On Saturday, Alexis' mother called a family friend, Aisha Ford to come them up from Parker's home because Parker had no heat.

Ford said she drove her burgundy 1998 Ford Expedition to Parker's home on Dwyer. She said as Parker and Alexis walked up to her vehicle she saw a man on the porch, who she assumed was a furnace repairman. She said Alexis, who walks with a limp, slipped momentarily on the icy sidewalk and as she helped the girl up, she saw the man and recognized him as Tillie. He was holding a gun. Tillie ordered them into the vehicle, cursed at the women and angrily told Ford to drive him to Six Mile Road, she said. SOURCE

Aisha Ford wisely concluded that if she made it to Six Mile Road, the four-time cnvicted felon would kill them all so she said she needed gas and they preceeded to a gas station. Ford managed to call 911 while she was walking into the station, but this is DETROIT!

"The first operator clicked off and I dialed again and told that operator a guy with a gun was holding me hostage with a mother and baby and threatening to kill us. I told her the name of the gas station and then she said they didn't have a unit to send." (WTH?!?!?!?!?) SOURCE

Still waiting for Detroit's finest to show up managed to convince the boy genius ( the four-time cnvicted felon) that she needed evev more gas. When she went back into the station, the stations attendant notices she was crying and he called 911 AGAIN when she told him what was happening. That is when they heard shots coming from the car.

The mother pleaded with the gunman, but he shot her in the head and the arm.

Before Tillie could fire again, Alexis jumped over the seat between her mother and the gunman and begged him not to shoot her mother. SOURCE

Then the four time convicted felon "without hesitation" pumped six shots into little Alexis.

After all the carnage, Detroit's finest managed to get there, surround the car. Oh did we mention that a police car was on the street nearby and they came only five minutes after the station attendant's call. I guess the call from a Black woman in Detroit does not merit attention.


Alexis is now in the hospital covered in bandages. She is in special eduation and has a weak left eye as a result of a stroke she suffered as an infant. Doctors had predicted that she would grow up to have difficulty with basic tasks such as writing, but Alexis was now able to write her own name.

The nutjob boyfriend is in jail facing kidnapping, assault with intent to murder, child abuse, felony firearms and habitual criminal charges.

The AP is running a similar story as well. The whole sports industrial complex is in a tizzy:

He's not alone.

Athletes feel as though they're under attack, their luxurious worlds invaded by thugs and hustlers and criminals who want to take them down — or take what they've worked so hard to earn through their skills on the courts and playing fields. SOURCE

There are some poor Black women down in West Palm Beach Florida who can relate to not feeling safe in your own home.

"People are not coming at your average Joe anymore," said Fisher, who called for the NFL to implement stricter security measures to protect players. "They are coming after athletes. People feel like athletes are an easy win. Why not (rob) an athlete?

But I thought the members of the Sports Industrial Complex were all about KEEPING IT REAL- making sure everyone knew y'all were still down with the people in Da' Hood. Well the people in the hood are living in fear too.

I guess as long as it was we "little people" whose blood was running in the streets and living in terror and fear, the glorification of foolishness was just fine and dandy. Seems professional athletes are growing tired of the “keeping it real” culture they have been clinging to for the past decade or so. Despite the fact that they are multimillionaires, many have gone out of their ways to emulate the THUG LIFE-style. They were just KEEPING IT REAL!

I didn't start this blog for nothing. The world is changing and not in a good way. We are seeing the results of two decades of absolute insanity begin to show up.

What Did You Expect When We Started Mainstreaming Foolishness?

What did you think was going to happen when you raised a generation of young Black folks to believe that being “upwardly mobile” meant rolling on over to somebody's house and “mobilizing” their property on “up” outta there?

What did you think was going to happen after plunking your kids in front of video games where their objective is to shoot, maim, rape and kill as many human beings as possible?

What did you think when the iconic “entrepreneurs” of these generations of late proudly proclaim themselves to be "hustlers", don't and wear suits and ties, but are 40 and 50 years-old running around in track suits calling themselves CEOs? Then we wonder why a COLLEGE or UNIVERSITY has to initiate a DRESS CODE because its students don't know how to dress for a freaking job interview.

What did you think was going to happen when ridiculous numbers of African American teenagers commit economic suicide and drop out of high school?

What did you think was going to happen when all of these athletes were inviting MTV into their homes so we could see their tacky over the top CRIBS with a plasma screen tv over the commode and gold fish in the floor?

What did you think was going to happen with a couple of generations of under educated, under employed, oversexed people who have been systematically desensitized to violence and have no frame of reference for socially acceptable behavior other than what they can surmise from mainstream popular culture.

What did you think was going to happen when CORPORATE AMERICA decided to mainstream a pro prison, pro pimp, pro drugs, pro crime, pro violence, anti education, anti woman, anti impulse control, anti social culture?

The Cost of Admission into the Mainstream

There used to be a time when we exacted a heavy price in order to be “Mainstream.” Remember Michael Jordan catching hell because he wasn't running around trying to be the next MLK. Although we know he had to be doing all kinds of dirt, he didn't brag about it on the front page of the paper as if he was proud. Why? Because he wanted mainstream money and back then, the mainstream exacted a price. Either fit within our narrow boundaries of socially acceptable behavior, or you will not get our mainstream money. Shut up and play and you will get paid!

Now the same sports media talking heads that love to call the San Antonio Spurs SOFT because Tim Duncan and crew aren't running around throwing up gang signs between scoring points and winning championships are lamenting the plague of violence besetting these multimillionaire ball players who have been obsessed with making sure that the world knew that they were GANGTA' and continuing to embrace the streets that they claim to have come from.

All of a sudden all the conspicuous consumption they wholeheartedly engaged in is coming back to haunt them because folks have been watching MTV Cribs and they want to consume too and they don't mind consuming you and you family to get what they want. There was a time when you didn't let folks know what was up in your house. Everybody couldn't come over and visit. You didn't pull your curtains back during the holidays so the neighborhood could see how nice you Christmas tree was and you made sure that when you got a new TV, VCR, or other electronic device that you cut up the box so folks wouldn't know you got anything new. Or maybe that was just we folks in Da Hood that knew you NEVER flashed money around unless you wanted to have someone take it from you.

Will there always be entertainment that promotes hatred and indifference for the lives of your fellow man? Of course, but it does not have to reside in the mainstream. We can drop kick it into the fringes where it belongs. I hope that with this new cloud hanging over them and their families that all of these poster boys of keeping it real join me and stop funding foolishness.

Stop funding foolishness does not just mean not buying CDs and DVDs and Video Games. It means imposing economic sanctions on large US Corporations that are pumping billions of dollars into an industry that is cannibalizing the African American community.

Gina, it isn't popular culture, its poverty! - You are wrong. We've always been poor. When you blame poverty for people running around shooting other human beings indiscriminately, you slander the poor. There is no correlation between morality and net worth. If that was the case, some of these multimillionaires would not be running around acting like a bunch of fools.

Gina, its racism! - Wrong again. It is something else. We've always had to deal with racism and we managed to have some kind of moral compass within the community. Our moral authority was one of the greatest weapons of the Civil Rights Movement.

Now I do believe that racism is responsible for polluting the mainstream with these destructive messages. There is no way that if other groups were targeted the way Black women are in popular culture that the likes of Starbucks, Ford, General Motors, Hewlett Packard, Apple Computers, Old Spice and Mountain Dew would be handing out checks. Explain to me how Verizon made Akon its spokesperson despite his conviction on robbery and drug charges? Explain to me how Macy's Department Stores and others are handing over millions of dollars by carrying the clothing, shoes, accessories, and perfumes of men who routinely engage in hate speech and acts directed towards Black women? If ANY OTHER group was being called names and degraded like Black women, they wouldn't get within 100 feet of a Macy's. Remember THAT the next time you go buy a new suit!

Gina, this has been going on forever!- Wrong! There have always been immoral murderous people, but again, they didn't dominate the mainstream. Think about this insanity: The Black multimillionaire that has a baby mama in every city; gets into a knock down drag out fight with his employer's customers in front of the world; got 8 cars with 3 garages; is tatted up and braided down and BLINGED OUT -Well he's from the streets and is KEEPING IT REAL!

But the Black man that has De' Evil 9-5; Who dresses appropriately to carry out his job duties;has a 401 K and is dollar cost averaging instead of trying to get rich quick; has a 5 year plan instead of a 5 minute plan; marries the mother of his children PRIOR TO CONCEPTION; takes whatever honest work he can get today knowing that it might lead to something else tomorrow instead of slanging rocks or hustlin' This Black man is called a CHUMP or a SELLOUT by the mainstream popular culture.

Yes, there have always been murderous thieves, but THEY used to be the ones scorned, not held up as some ideal to achieve (Frank Lucas my arse!- Even Frank knew to keep a low profile and not be running about Bling Blinging). Even then thieves used to have a code of conduct of sorts. Now it is anything goes. Whatever feels good. Do it! There used to be a time when people were embarrassed to be known as a criminal. Now it is a badge of honor. It shows that you are Keeping it REAL!

Gina, you and your solutions are over simplistic. They won't work! - WRONG!!! It ain't that hard. The next time you hear about some huge corporation offering another hooligan or misogynist a multi-million-dollar contract, howl at the moon and watch how quickly they back track. Case in point Twista and McDonalds - Akon and Verizon. Once these idiots realize that if they want the big money they are going to have to meet certain expectations, watch the attitude adjustment. They will still get rich,but not as easily as they are now. Not without access to mainstream money.

Why will it be that easy? Because most of them aren't artists in the first place, they're hustlers (haven't you been listening)who figured out the Entertainment Industrial Complex was a pretty good way to develop a brand name which they could then exploit to make exponentially more than they could ever make selling albums or touring. They make peanuts off of album sales. They don't care about the music. They care about their brand. The music videos and songs are just commercials for their brands. Why do you think certain rappers can't seem to retire? It ain't about the music, it is all about keeping up sales of their tacky clothing lines and they can't do that without a hit album out reminding people that they are still relevant.

If I thought the situation was hopeless, I would have bounced already, moved to a mountain in the Canadian rockies and thrown up the deuce. I am very hopeful. Raising the Price of Admission into the Mainstream

We can drop kick the foolishness to the fringes. We can raise the price of admission to belong in the mainstream. We can banish the bacchanal buffet of booty shaking into an abyss where it belongs! We don't have to take this crap. We are more powerful that you know and all we have to do is open up our mouths and speak.

What would happen if Black women or for that matter all people who are sick and tired of the foolishness sent a message to department stores that as long as you sell the clothing lines of these purveyors of porn and cultural pestilence we won't be shopping at your store? I bet they'd pull those clothing lines faster than you can say raccoon fur coat! ( It is a shame that a dog in China has advocates willing to take on corporate America and Black women don't. PETA and the Humane Society ain't playin'. Why the heck are we?)

I'm not saying we should do that. I'm just putting it out there.

So to the multimillionaire athletes, welcome to our world. We've been waiting for you. To those of you who, like Fannie Lou Hamer, are sick and tire of being sick and tired, what are you going to do? Are you going to continue to sit on the sidelines lamenting the decline of the Black community, or are you going to fight back? It ain't that hard. I believe our last free market capitalism campaign took about 4 hours to drive some foolishness into the depths of Hell where it belonged. All we have to do is ask. Why aren't you asking for an increase in the price of admission into the mainstream?

Why Aren't the Lives of Black Women Treasured?:

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

While Police were recovering and identifying the body of Latasha Norman, Barack Obama was eating fried chicken in Harlem with Al Sharpton and MSNBC was reporting on the recovery of the body of another college student. It goes without saying that the other college student was not an African American woman otherwise, MSNBC would not have reported on her kidnapping and murder.

In the world of television news, air time is the treasure. The more important the editorial decision-makers believe a story is to them, the more air time will be given to the story.

In the world of politics, political capital is the treasure. The more important a politician believes an issue is, the more political capital, in the form of public statements and legislation, a politician is willing to expend.

When I say important. I don't mean private importance, but public importance. You see the editor making the calls about what goes on cable news may privately care deeply about violence against black women, but made the calculation that they cannot do so in their public lives. A politician may care very deeply about violence against Black women privately, but may do absolutely nothing about it in their public lives.

We aren't voting for a man or woman. We're voting for a President-an administration. I ain't particularly interested in their private lives. What I am concerned about is their public life.
What do they treasure publicly? We can tell what they treasure publicly pretty gosh darn easily because THEY TALK ABOUT WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO THEM!

Regular readers of this blog know that the Universe loves to mock me. I vow never to write about something and then the Universe in its infinite wisdom decides to plop something smack dab in front of my face whose irony and hypocrisy literally dares me to comment on it at 4:00AM.

Now Rev. Renita J Weems would probably tell me that I was naïve, but Renita I really did think that all these people would have to hear were the horrific details of the crime and they would be so moved to action that they would literally trip over themselves to speak out publicly about the horrors. I was stupid and yes, naïve.

So when I woke up this morning and read that while police were trying to identify the body of Latasha Norman, Barack Obama was eating fried chicken at Sylvia's with Al Sharpton and later commented PUBLICLY on the Jena 6 in front of a audience filled with members of The Black Elite Establishment at the Apollo theater on the same day I was like “You have got to be kidding me.” The juxtaposition is insane.

The truth is that while our political leaders may feel bad privately they aren't going to speak out about any of these violent crimes against Black women. Because politically the lives of Black women and girls aren't TREASURED only our votes.

The politicians have done their mercenary political calculations and have concluded that they can get away with ignoring crimes against humanity committed against African American women in this country. Why? Because they don't treasure our lives. In the political world, the lives of six African American teenage boys are worth more than the lives of a thousand Black women and children.

It's time to change the variables in their equations.

We shouldn't have to beg anybody to do what they have a moral obligation to do. The days of black women begging folks for anything OUGHT to be over. We're in the majority when it comes to Black registered voters. We control over 67% of the 850 BILLION of Black America's dollars. We lead the majority of Black America's households. So tell me why we got to beg anybody to acknowledge our humanity and treasure our lives as much as the live of Black criminal defendants?

Violence against Black women ain't going away. Candidates can either deal with it THIS December or they can deal with it NEXT November, but they will deal with it and they will deal with it publicly. It is of no consequence to me when it happens. CALCULATE THAT!

WAOD Lets a Brother Speak on Domestic Violence: The Most Common Black on Black Crime ( By: DJ Black Adam)

As I stated yesterday, October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and here at WADO, we are doing something different this month, we are featuring guest posts from Black male bloggers on the issue of Domestic Violence. Our first BRAVE soul to weigh in id DJ Black Adam. Here is his post:

Title: “The most common Black on Black crime…” by DJ Black Adam

Domestic Violence. Psychological, Emotional and Physical. It happens all over the United States, within all racial groups, yet of all the women who die from domestic violence in the United States, roughly 28% of them are African American (1). Since we make up roughly 13% of the population, it is obvious that we have a different situation within our group. Perhaps there are social economic factors unique to the African American community that play as agitating factors making the numbers in the African American community disproportionate? Maybe it is the “thug” / “pimp” culture that media, often times Black media projects? Perhaps it is a lot of things, whatever it is, it has to stop, and Black MEN as well as Black Women have to stop it.

In most cases, it is the physical abuse that ends up in tragic endings. Not to minimize the other types of abuse, but for the sake of this discussion, I will limit my thoughts to “Physical” abuse.

In my opinion, the best place to start is how we (Black Men and Women) raise our children, particularly, Black boys.

With the exception of the garden variety sociopath (which you just have to try to be able to spot and avoid), the first basis of abuse of women by men is the mentality that is fostered within the Black community as well as the general mentality of the West, that women are “possessions”. Yes, though not in the same form or to the degree that we see in the Middle East, Asia or Africa, the fact is that women are seen as “possessions” in the West. This is a form of dehumanization, and when you dehumanize anyone, history shows that people are capable of some pretty serious evil and violence towards those they deem “less than” human for whatever reason and to whatever degree.

Misogyny in any form is a type of dehumanization. While we (Black Men and Women) may not teach or forward this type of dehumanization directly, often times we are complicit in spreading it by our lack of attention to it. First men have to identify this mentality in themselves (if they have it) and change their view of women as possessions, and look at women as equal partners in life. Men need to understand this basic truth that women are humans of equal value and worthy of the same respect, that they expect. Simple yes, but obviously not in practice to the degree it should be.

Black Men of conscious have a responsibility to show their sons, nephews and brothers the example of true gentlemanship, that is to respect and honor (not objectify or obsess over the body parts of) their mothers, nieces, daughters and sisters. Further, in most cases men are physically stronger than the women they are with, men must understand that a behave accordingly and not bully someone they claim to have affection for.

Black Women have a responsibility to no tolerate disrespect or violence against them, so that their daughters do not see abuse allowed and possibly expect and accept abuse themselves. Now that we have looked at this academically, I’d like to share some common sense recommendations from my observations of these types of physically abusive relationships with you all.

1. Note the Signs, see what is there, NOT just what you want to see.

Ladies, please, BELIEVE what you see. If a guy is easily irritated, he IS easily irritated. If he seems violent, he generally IS violent. If he acts crazy towards everyone else, yet for the time of the “courtship” seems to NOT with you, it isn’t because “he’s like that with outsiders, but not me” it is because he knows you catch more bee’s with honey than vinegar.

2. If he hits you once, leave.

Harsh, yes it is. But you don’t know how far he could go the second time.

3. Don’t make excuses for them.

Sure, maybe you did irritate him or give him some “reason” in your and his mind, if that’s the case, that reason may happen again, and you could end up dead next time. Find someone who accepts you even with your perceived flaws.

These are just a few thoughts, I hope my prattle makes some sense to someone. Above all, respect yourselves and demand respect from any man you feel is worthy of you.

The following is for those who find themselves in a relationship with a violent man. If you decide to leave this type of man (and I hope you do) here are some things you might want to do, especially if they have threatened to harm you:

Ladies, if a man tells you he is capable of hurting you at that moment you best become capable of hurting him. If he is crazy enough to make that threat, you best be crazy enough to BELIEVE THEM.

*Get a restraining order: While you wait for the restraining order, get your FOID Card, and a 380 (or a 9MM ) or at least a strong taser. If the guy approaches you after you have told him its over, drop him like a sack of rotten potatoes. Better him than you...I’m just saying…

*Don't go ANYWHERE with them!

*Keep your weapon of choice close or with you when walking alone or to and from your vehicle!

*Don't meet them ANYWHERE! (They want to talk, phones and e-mail only, if you chose to talk to them.

*If they want you to return something or they want to return something to you, USE UPS, FED EX or USPS!

*Get a home alarm system or a Rottie (German Sheppards are good too)!

*Like I said before, get a license for a weapon AND a weapon. Go to the range and get taught gun safety. Dude come up in your face, drop him.

It sounds harsh, but generally, if you make a violent person see that you aren’t having it, they seek weaker prey.

Above all ladies, be safe, and value yourselves.

If You're Not Angry Too, You Just Haven't Been Paying Attention: Friday Week in Review

Whew this week is over, but not without controversy as we are prone to wade into on occasion. We ain't "Blog of the Year for Nothing" around here. I also want to take this opportunity to announce that the WAOD Disgruntled Readers Support Group will begin meeting at 5:00PM on Sundays in the fellowship hall of the Bedside Baptist Church, where the Rev. Dr. A. Larm Clock, Sr. is Pastor.

We started off what we thought was going to be a mellow week with a post about Oprah throwing a 3 Million Dollar fund raiser for Barack Obama. I used that opportunity to point out a problem that I have with Senator Obama's Characterization of the facts of the case involving Genarlow Wilson. I then brought up that post on NPR News and Notes during my appearance on the Bloggers' Roundtable. Some folks are very unhappy that I brought up the Wilson case and what I think are Senator Obama's mis characterization of the facts of the case before a group of folks who know very little about it. Of course they threw in a few "angry black women" labels as they always do. Well we wear it as a badge of honor because if you are not angry too, you just haven't been paying attention.

I don't have a problem with the 8th amendment arguments that there was an excessive sentence in the Wilson case. What I have always said is that in making the 8th amendment argument, you don't have to sanitize the facts of what happened in that hotel room or try to make Genarlow Wilson into a saint. Well what's it to you? I'll tell you why I broke the party line and committed heresy by pointing out this problem... because somewhere there is a 17 year old girl ( I guess she is about 19 or 20 now) that says that she was raped and I believe the videotape of the events in the room corroborate that. Not prove, but corroborate. Somewhere there is a 15 year old girl who was drawn into this case and she's getting death threats. But nobody bothers to mention that. No, we have to try to make what happened in that room seem as if it is a scene out of Romeo and Juliet. Well the last time I checked Romeo didn't pass Juliet around to his five buddies.

The argument that the sentence was excessive is in no way diminished by acknowledging that two teen age girls have also had their lives turned upside down as well. What About Our Daughters? So if asking "what must those girls be feeling right now?" makes me "angry" then so be it. Y'all can read some of the responses to my appearance on NPR's News and Notes. Some of the posters didn't like the fact that I brought up Obama's sanitizing of the facts in the Wilson case. yeah, I used that forum to bring this up. I knew I was committing heresy by not sticking to the party line, but when history records this case 20 years from now, maybe a sliver of a footnote will be that somebody said "what happened to the girls in this case?" But I'm not supposed to ask that question am I because what happens to young Black girls aren't really all that important to some folks. Yeah, I said it.

Monday we talked about the Concubine Conspiracy to convince Black women that the best they can do is rent out their wombs and become a "baby mama." We pointed out Essence's role in trying to mainstream "I be concubining!" Sandra Rose has an update on the tawdriness that is Puffy Diddy dee da de' and his veritable cornucopia of babies mamas.

I thought Tuesday was going to be my 9-11 tribute day and I put up a post early asking Where Were You the Day Hell Rained Down From the Sky? If you didn't get a chance, drop a comment in the basket.

I didn't want to post about anything else on 9-11, in fact I vowed not to ( my regulars know how my vows go. I should really stop making them right?) Well as I did my early morning e-mail check an I mean like 4:00AM, three folks had already e-mailed me because they couldn't sleep after reading about this horrific case in West Virginia of a woman being tortured. Some kind of way CNN.com ended up pointing to us( probably because we were one of the earliest blogs to post about it). So of course the comments section went crazy. This blog almost went private. One button is all it takes folks. I couldn't believe folks were cutting up on 9-11. Maybe 9-11 just affects me more than other folks. It always reminds me that life is so short and that there evil folks out there that are a threat to us all.

Then we wrapped up the week posting Robert Byrd's YouTube menagerie from his infamous "barbaric" speech about Michael Vick and dog fighting. I used it as an opportunity to point out that crimes against dogs have gotten more news print than crimes such as Dunbar Village which are committed against Black women.

Stop Funding Foolishness!

Will West Virginia's Senior Senator Take to the Senate Floor on Behalf of Black Women in the Aftermath of the West Virginia Rape and Torture Case?

Y'all remember this post called " Maybe Black Women Should Be Pitt Bulls in Our Next Lives: The Hypocrisy of Al Sharpton and Russell Simmons. " I basically note that Rev. Al Sharpton and Russell Simmons issued a statement condemning Michael Vick for dog fighting and were silent and immorally indifferent to the plight of the Dunbar Village gang rape victim. I know for a fact that BOTH of them know about Dunbar Village because I have exchanged messages with some of their high ranking staffers. Well Rev. Al and Russie ain't got nothing on Senator Robert Byrd from WEST VIRGINIA.(he really gets going around minute 5:00)


Byrd took to the Senate floor in an impassioned speech about barbarism. Except it isn't barbarism against human beings. I don't have a problem with folks speaking out against dog fighting. Its heinous and the folks that would stoop so low as to abuse an animal would probably abuse a human being.

We got on CNN's anchor , Larry Smith, when he said that dog fighting was worse than rape, but apparently he was right and we were wrong because if you compare the level of coverage that dog fighting got vs. the Dunbar Village case, that could be your only conclusion. If you consider the fact that the NAACP came out on behalf of the multimillionaire Vick who is more than capable of defending himself, yet called me to tell me that they would not be speaking out about Dunbar Village, then it is not unreasonable to conclude that folks are more concerned about dog fighting than vicious crimes committed against Black women.

Maybe y'all can get Senator Byrd to take to the Senate floor to speak about Dunbar Village and the West Virginia torture case on behalf of Black women, whose murders, kidnappings and rapes are apparently less newsworthy than the plight of FIDO.

Black Woman Tortured and Raped For A Week in West Virginia - Open Season on Black women continues.

Essential Presence has all of the gory details.

Besides being sexually assaulted, the victim had been stabbed four times in the left leg and beaten, Porter said. Both of her eyes were black and blue. The woman's wounds were inflicted at least a week ago, deputies said.

During her capture, the victim was forced to eat rat and dog feces and drink from the toilet, according to the criminal complaint filed in magistrate court. The woman also had been choked with a cable cord and her hair cut, it alleges.

One of those arrested, Karen Burton, is accused of cutting the woman's ankle with a knife. She used the N-word in telling the woman she was victimized because she is black, according to the criminal complaint.

Deputies say the woman was also doused with hot water while being sexually assaulted. Source

Not in Africa or Bosnia or Central America, in THIS country! Open season on Black women! This will probably be ignored just like Dunbar Village, but there is hope because this time the SIX assailants were White so maybe THAT will get attention from the League of the Immorally Indifferent and the media. Folks, apparently through some quirk of fate Cnn.com's AP story about this West Virginia story is pointing people at this blog temporarily. That is why you are seeing comments from folks you have never seen before and a lot of folks who are saying that we shouldn't be making a big fuss about the lack of coverage crimes against Black women receive. Sure CNN.com and the AP covered the initial story, but what about a week from now? Will this woman get Elizabeth Smart coverage? Has the Dunbar Village case gotten additional coverage three month's out with six out of ten gang rapists still running around Florida?

Is any news organization covering the fact that NOW, the NAACP, Rainbow PUSH, Rev. Al, Rev. Jesse, Obama, Clinton, Edwards and etc. have all ignored the plight of the poor Black women in West Palm Beach, FL who were forced to live in a placed they called "Hell On Earth?"

Regarding the Knoxville case. I too read about that case and even commented on it on another blog. It kept me up at night too. In fact I have always suspected that the Dunbar Village rapists were copycats of the Knoxville case because they are very similar. So those who are upset about the lack of coverage about Knoxville. I share your ire. Something is going on in this country where we have the weaponization of rape similar to what you expect to find in some third world country on the uptick and mainstream media is quick to put on 24 hour coverage of Michael Vick and is Britney's career over and what did Paris Hilton wear to prison today.

But before you dismiss our legitimate concern that horrific crimes against Black women go underreported, let me ask you this... Have you ever heard of Sakia Gunn? We're not just lamenting this case. We already know what is going to happen. We're not just saddened over Dunbar Village, but over Newark, and Chancey Bailey, Stepha Henry, and Sakia Gunn( This was in Newark too. The Accompanying article lists another horrific crime committed against an 11 year old girl by 19 men and boys! Jesus! Just. Just. Jesus!). Folks are ticked off over Marcie Crane, Kireasha Pam Linkhome, Shirley Geanes, Latoya Natasha Thomas, Dymashal Lashon Cullins, Tyesha Patrice bell, Daphne Philisia Jones, Tamika Antoinette Huston, and all the other Black women that go missing while MSNBC focuses on what Paris Hilton is wearing when she goes to jail.

What a Way to End the Holiday... Brooklyn Gang Rape...Moving to Canada

Didn't I say that Dunbar Village was part of a pattern? Tactics that we are used to hearing about in war torn regions half a world away are now being employed against Black women and girls in this country by criminal elements within the African American community.

A mother and daughter in Brooklyn were raped by members of a street gang as part of an unpaid debt related to a drug deal. Thanks Fred for the heads up.

I'm going to walk away for a minute and hunt for that application for Canadian citizenship.

How many more of these crimes is it going to take for us to wake up and realize that the we got our own Janjaweed in America?

In ten years will Black women an girls even be able to leave their homes without an armed escort? Will we be safe to go out and go grocery shopping? Right now, women in some parts of Africa can't even go get water without running the risk of being raped.

No really, I can move to the Canadian Rockies and live off the land. I just need a satellite dish to keep up with the outside world and I'm set.

Juanita Bynum Attacked By Husband ( Severely!)

Say it ain't so. I had heard rumblings of trouble and I have some issues with the Prophetess, but I will never forget "No More Sheets," every Black woman, heck every woman, ought to have that DVD. I ain't gone say anything untoward, right now. Just send up a prayer for her. Sisters you KNOW she had some warning signs. Trust your instincts..... and then go get a CHL. The lord helps those who help themselves. These "preachers" I tell ya'. You have got to watch 'em. What is even more fascinating is the response from "church folk."

I know my "work" is skewing my perspective, but DAYUM! It feels like open season on us. I would like to take a moment out to send Kudos to the bellhop, for intervening and coming to this woman's aid when the man who was supposed to love, honor and cherish her brutally attacked her. Let that marinate! Speak on it.

Larm Clock, Sr., there is still nothing more entertaining than TBN when Juanita Bynum is hosting "Praise The Lord" I am going to be watching the listings for her next appearance. That testimony is going to be Must See TV. Please. PLEASE.

11 Year Old Black Girl Raped By Up to 20 Men While Adults stood by and did.....NOTHING!

Warning: If you are already feeling lousy after reading about Dunbar Village and Newark, skip this post and return to it when you feel better.

Remember when I mentioned this crime in my post "The Five Stages of Grief?" Why the hell didn't we hear about this horror? UPDATE: OH wait, this just gets worse.

I guess all of y'all who don't believe in statutory rape are going to say that the 11 year old was just being fast, right? Hmm one of the perps pulled out the R. Kelly defense

He went to a locked bedroom in his house in the 3700 block of N. 6th St. where he heard "moaning" from inside and eventually was let into the room, where he saw "12, 13 or 14" other men and teens present. He said the girl was freely having sex with several men during the hour he was present, but another man in the room had told her not to have sex with Gurley. She eventually acquiesced, he said, at someone else's urging. The criminal complaint says that person was the 15-year-old boy who is charged.

"I thought she was a boy's girlfriend," he said.

(hmmm where have I heard THAT BEFORE)

So as long as she is a "girlfriend", sex with the underage girl is okay?

He said that he never spoke with the girl and that he didn't think about using a condom. The police officer who arrested Gurley broke the news that the girl was 11, and he later learned the girl had been born with HIV.

It wasn't just men participating in this horror, but they had a 16 year old female instigator:

[T]he girl told police she went to Gurley's house to visit the 16-year-old girl now charged in the case. That older girl suggested the victim perform sex acts with several boys in the house, the victim told police, and she did so, sometimes with more than one person at a time. Some records suggest the older girl directed the victim;

Seriously, this is utterly ridiculous! It is time to declare an end to open season on Black women and girls. Let the battle between Black folks with common sense and those without commence. We might not be victorious, but we have to at least try.

Why aren't we seeing articles on the crisis of the young Black woman? Why do we always seem to be marching on behalf of those accused of crime, but say little or ignore completely victims of crime? Is this poverty's fault again? Not trying to start nuthin', I'm just asking.

UPDATE: Well at least now we know what Rev. Sharpton has been busy doing instead of issuing a statement about crimes against black women and girls. For those who say the Rev. Does not know about Dunbar Village, one of my readers called into his show and I have exchanged e-mails with his indecency initiative chief. So he knows, he just doesn't care as much about this issue as much as he craves getting into a cat fight with a Hip hop "artist."

Dunbar Village - RAZE IT TO THE GROUND AND SALT THE EARTH SO THAT NOTHING WILL GROW THERE! - How to Help.- Where in the World are the Rev's?

I explained in Friday's post why I didn't post about Dunbar Village, how do you articulate the horror in words? Quite frankly it depressed the hell out of me. In another post about some foolishness in Georgia, we started addressing the gang rape in Dunbar Village of a woman by 10 African American teens who in addition to repeatedly raping the woman ( FOR OVER THREE HOURS) while beating her 12 year old son made them lie naked in the bath tub together and forced the woman to perform oral sex on her own child before burning her skin and blinding her son by pouring cleaning solution on their skin and eyes.

Oh yeah, and they took cell phone pictures of their deeds and were so brazen that one of these monsters left his condom behind. Surely indicating that they thought they would get away with it. Oh yeah, and the neighbors that didn't see or hear anything and are currently not talking to police.... Well not a single living thing in this "community " of folks even bothered to offer a glass of water when this was over. This woman and her blinded son had to trudge to the hospital in the dark on their own.

Why Raze this place to the ground?

"So a lady was raped. Big deal," resident Paticiea Matlock said. "There's too much other crime happening here." ( Source)

Or maybe it should be razed to the ground for this reason alone:

Neighbors did not respond to her screams, and no one called the police. The victims ended up walking a mile to the nearest hospital afterward. (Source)

For three hours, the two say, the 35-year-old Haitian immigrant was raped and sodomized by up to 10 masked teenagers as her 12-year-old son was beaten in another room. (Source)

Or raze it to the ground because of this lovely fact about another crime by the residents of another complex less than a mile away from Dunbar Village:

A 14-year-old Mangonia Park boy has been charged with raping and robbing a 42-year-old woman only a few steps from her apartment while his friends waited and watched, some shouting "Hurry up" and "Me next." ( Source)

Or how about this tidbit:

Two of the three teenagers arrested in the Dunbar Village gang rape are related to imprisoned members of ( a gang I refuse to promote on this blog)...People in the neighborhood kind of look up to the (gang I refuse to promote)," he said. "As we lock them up, some young kids started calling themselves (name you can read for yourself in the link)...On MySpace - a social networking Web site - friends profess allegiance to the three Dunbar teenagers arrested in the rape and express hope that they will be freed. (Source)

What the HELL is going on in these housing projects in Florida and you can best be darn tooting sure that this foolishness is going to spread. All the gated communities in the world can't keep psychopaths like this out. It does not matter if you or your children are not engaged in crime and foolishness, this still can affect you. The victim kept her son on the straight and narrow, which was probably one of the reasons why she was targeted:

Dunbar Village was the only place the 35-year-old Haitian immigrant could afford on what money she got by selling Avon products or delivering phone books.

Each day, she would shower, cook for her son, braid hair for her friends, and hope for relief from her chronic backaches. She was a university student in Haiti who came here and worked in a nursing home until she fell and hurt her back.

She did not socialize with neighbors or buy the sin some of them sold.

WE CAN'T LET THIS PLACE EXIST. PERIOD!

This country simply cannot let a place like this exist. We can't let a community that will ignore what surely were cries and screams emanating from that apartment with paper-thin walls . We can't let a community that had to have at least one person seen a bleeding, beaten, blinded mother and son trudging out of their apartment, but didn't lift a finger to offer a ride to the hospital or call a cab or maybe if 911 was too much of a stretch, they could have called 411. Even now, when only 3 of the 10 are in custody, that "community" from reports isn't doing much to assist law enforcement with apprehending the remaining assailants.

For those who say folks are scared, my response is, why would we let a community exist where people are so frightened for their personal health and safety that they will ignore a heinous crime in progress, not offer minimal assistance to the victims immediately following the attack, and then remain silent and not lift a finger to aid the police in capturing folks who are threats to us all.

Raze it to the ground, relocate the folks, disperse the foolishness. Just because they are poor doesn't mean we should tolerate them living in HELL on EARTH.

The single mothers and children who fill most of the apartments at Dunbar Village — a housing project on the poor, black, north side of this city — are used to nightly gunfire. They are used to theft, assault, murder and the indifference of federal and local authorities. (SOURCE)

Relocate them. Raze the place to the ground and let it serve as a monument that the great social experiment of packing a bunch of poor folks on top of each other and then abandoning them is a FAILURE. The public policy folks got this one WRONG. Start over, but don't let these people continue to live like this. If they don't have the initiative or wherewithal to claw themselves out out of hell, then the nation must give them a push, but we can't sit back and accept these conditions in America or anywhere else on the planet for that matter. Some of the current residents understand that Hell on Earth is no HOME at all.

Outside another unit, Calvin Jones, 71, said he would leave with his 13-year-old granddaughter this weekend. They came to Dunbar Village from Gulfport, Miss., after Hurricane Katrina, Mr. Jones said, and now they were going back — though with no home.

The woman and her son are in hiding and need living expenses.The woman was a parishioner at Saint Ann's Church in West Palm Beach. The church has set up a fund through Wachovia Bank to help her with moving and living expenses.
