Professor Tracey, WAOD Contributor

Let's celebrate an African American woman in the music industry doing something different than being a hip hop video vixen or a carbon copy oversexed R&B siren. Check out rising country music star - Rissi Palmer and her big hit, Country Girl - the first black woman to hit big on the country music charts in over 20 years! I first heard of this sister through the brothers at Afronerd and then over at my blogging sister's site Mes Deux Cents. Stop whining about hip hop for about fifteen seconds and listen to something different. You may not like the country music sound, but this sister does have a voice! I also highly recommend Ayo and Nicole Mullen. Let's start supporting sisters making music in an artistic and passionate way!
