Kwame Kilpatrick Jail House Vigil Open Thread

I really don't have anything to say. The man is in jail. I don't believe in kicking folks while they are down and it doesn't get more down than being locked up. So feel free to comment and leave links to interesting posts about Kwame Kilpatrick. This is all very sad. Sad for the city. Sad for the family, and yes, even sad for him. All that talent and all those gifts SQUANDERED!

I have offered some of my pasts comments in chronological order ( that's beginning to end y'all)

Y'allz Boy Kwame Kilpatrick Career Kryptonite for Black Women--- ALMOST Brings Down His Mama

"Pull us from the water when it is clear we are drowning and then after you are sure we've recovered taking us back down to the river and tossing us in and saying "Um don't you think its about time you learned how to swim on your own because I'm not always gone be here to rescue you!" *splash*" Gina on a Mother's Love

First there was Carlita, then Christine, now add Carolyn to the list of Black women who've been singed by the uncontrollable lustful urges of Detroit Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick.

Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, a seven-term incumbent, found herself fighting for her political life. Why? Because of the uncontrollable lustful desires of her fully grown son:

Early results Tuesday showed the six-term congresswoman trailing both her opponents, but as the night wore on and more Detroit numbers came in, she pulled even and then slightly ahead of former state Rep. Mary Waters at around midnight.

With all precincts reporting, Kilpatrick had 20,888 votes, or 39.1% and Waters had 19,183 votes, or 36%. State Sen. Martha Scott was in third place with 13,280 votes, or 24.9%, according to the Associated Press. FREEP

In a three way race yesterday, she won by 1,700 votes in a race that should not have even been close for a seven term incumbent. Mama K had over a half a million dollars, her closest challenger had $10,000 and if this had not been a three way race, it would have been lights out.

I had an occasion to meet Mama Kilpatrick at an event I was asked to speak at. It was an event with a bunch of rich Black women, many of whom were not all that warm and cuddly towards the fire breathing blogtavist, but Mama Kilpatrick was one of the nicest people I met that weekend. No strike that, she was the nicest. And no, it wasn't the politician thing because I sat at a table with another Black Congresswoman and she wasn't warm and fuzzy at all. AT. ALL. If it wasn't for enabling her fully grown son and his massive lapses in ethical behavior and judgement, I really don't have a bad thing to say about the woman. I don't live in her district.

So far Kwame has taken out Christine Beatty. Now his Mama barely holds on to her job, and yet he still keeps his job despite new allegations that he shoved sheriff's deputies who were attempting to serve a subpoena on one of his friends.

Jim Thomas, the mayor’s lawyer, said Kilpatrick merely told a process server that Ferguson was not there and asked him to leave.“He gently took him by the arm and escorted him off the porch,” Thomas said, adding that Ayanna is married to Ferguson’s cousin, Daniel Ferguson.Thomas said he did not know why Kilpatrick did not ask his police bodyguards, who were with him, to handle the matter. FREEP
In WHAT world do you lay hands on a uniformed peace officer and escort them anywhere? Somebody reminded me that both Kwame Kilpatrick and Barack Obama gave speeches at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Wow how quickly their paths diverged.

Ladies remember this, don't sacrifice your marriage, your life, or your career for an untrustworthy, undisciplined man or you will end up like all of the women in Kwame Kilpatick's life--- Left OUT THERE while he is chillaxin in the Mayor's mansion.

I know about a Mother's love and whatnot, the fact that no matter what you do in life, you'll always have your Mama, but part of being a parent is letting your kids go through the fire on their own. At a certain point, its not your job to keep us from getting burned, only to help bandage a few wounds. Or better yet, pull us from the water when it is clear we are drowning and then after you are sure we've recovered taking us back down to the river and tossing us in and saying "Um don't you think its about time you learned how to swim on your own because I'm not always gone be here to rescue you!" *splash*

On a side note, I about fell out when I read this:

11:15pm, Mary Waters has joined her supporters at Fuddruckers on East Jefferson Avenue. Her supporters are wearing their Mary Waters for Congress t-shirts and keeping a close eye on the results. WXYZ

So that's how y'all roll Detroit? Fuddruckers on East Jefferson is the spot. What? Y'all didn't have any hotel ballrooms available? Did she at least pick up the fries?

PS, Y'alls is spelled Y'all's or Y'allz not "Yaws" its "Y'all's Boy" not "Yaw's"

"When 'Nigga' Met 'Niggette': A Detroit 'Love' Story"---More Kwame Kilpatrick and Christine Beatty Texts Released

File this under too much time on my hands. I just got through reading an 18 page legal brief that contains MORE text messages between Christin Beatty and Kwame Kilpatrick that Detroit Free Press held back(ie, the most embarrassing ones). I suffered a bout of insomnia so I transcribed a couple of pages for y'all. You can read the entire thing here courtesy of the Detroit Free Press.

Excerpts from "When 'Nigga' met 'Niggette'"
---
My thoughts are in red

Page 9 -- Why Don't You Smile at Me like that?

Christine Beatty to Kwame Kilpatrick: "Are you on a date with your wife? Oooo I'm jealous. I'm a little too into you these past few days.

Lou Beatty to Christine Beatty:"How is your day? It's amazing how you can go out of town, come back refreshed and I immediately piss you off...You had an attitude until KK came over. Then you were smiling. Wish you smiled at me like that." [Poor Lou- He knew]

Page 10 -- One Day I'm Going to be Their Stepdad
Then Christine wants Kwame to see her baby before she takes the child to the dentist and Kwame later says "I may be their stepdad one day." -- They brought the kids into the foolishness.

CB:"My baby wanted to see you. I was just trying to make it happen before we went to the dentist"
KK:"Come on Momma"
CB: "Thanks for that"
KK: I enjoy that. I might be their stepdad one day
CB:Why might? What happened to "not yet"?
KK: The "might is on you"
CB: LOL Nigga, I already claimed it! KCK 2010. You told me that you would be my boyfriend everyday until I was your wife. Are you renigging?
KK:Hell no! Don't start none. Won't be none niggette! LOL
He later signs off with "My nigga! I love you, you know that."

Page 11- Christine becomes clingy.

This is actually kinda sad to read... but I will force myself to trudge on Page 12, more of Christine getting played

CB: Thinking about how hard you diss me, I still want to be in your arms, kiss you, hug you, love you. Listening to you speak and wishing you were my husband. No response needed to this[girl like he ever responds to your long winded text messages], but when [you] held me in your arms and looked me in the eyes and said I was your woman. All was right with the world. I love you.
KK: Damn! Thank you [Oh come on! she said all that and all he said was thanks!-]
CB: Can you promise me that I will always be that? [ Um "no" he can't seeing as how he already promised that to his wife, Carlita]
KK: You were my girl for as long as I can remember. I was too young and stupid to know [still stupid] I promise for the rest of my life you will be my girl. [as he goes home to his wife.]

Page 13
The following takes place during/after Christine divorces her husband. Note Kwame's respone at the end of her soliloquy

CB: Ahh. I'm about to cry. Thank you for that. You need to know that you are the man in my life that I depend on most [warning Christine, you are beginning to sound like a wife and not a mistress] Or should I have jut stopped at ' the man in my life'? I have an insecure thing going on with you right not and I know where it came from. Kind of started when you got back from your trip and I couldn't see you. TBc(to be continued)... Then we the separation thing with Lou and it really kicked in, and we had our conversation at Tom's it kind of escalated. When i told you started singing 'A Stranger's love," and I told you that you seemed that kind of man who be married to your wife forever, you kinda nodded like "yep". TBC.. I was really kind of trippin after that because of two reasons. I can't see living this way with us being 'secret' forever. [sound of Christine sealing her fate as the nonfuture Mrs. Kilpatrick] I love you so much and i want to tell somebody, someday![you just did]. (Smile). Secondly, this separation is really real and it kind of slapped 'lonely' in my mind... when you didn't some on Saturday until 3 hours later, that kind of just topped it off for me. So I'm sorry if I've been trippin. I could only two way this! I couldn't have said it to you personally! [and boy did you say it]

But wait y'all. Wait. Read Kwame's response to her five paragraph message..

KK: In this important and somewhat confusing time in your life, please know with all our hearts and soul that I love you and you will never, never be alon. TBC[to be continued]

Did that sound like a greeting card to y'all?

Page 14 - Reason and Necessity
The texts are not in chronological order in the document compare them about six months earlier cutting up.

KK to CB: Everything is cool. Did you get busted? You were kind of ___[I just couldn't force myself to type it. Fill in the blank] last night. inside and out. LOL
CB to KK: Oh, you got jokes? Actually I did get busted, which I was checking with you. I wanted to see if you had room on Leslie for me! LOL [she is talking about moving in with him in case she gets kicked out.]
KK: LOL LOL LOL! Not on Leslie but anywhere els eyou want to stay. LOL
CB: LOL, LOL! Dang, you wouldn't take me into your home? You told me the other day that you would do anything for me. What happened? [you actually might need something is what happened]
KK: LOL LOL LOL! Not the famous flip again. It's still anything! I should be with reason, necessity. If you really need to stay with me, it's on. In this case, we could find somewhere else.

Page 15- Why lord Why? -- The infamous DC Trip
CB to KK: I really wanted to give you some good ___ [again, unlike Christine I couldn't make myself type it- fill in the blank]this morning and I didn't know how to ask you to let me do it I have wanted to since Friday night when you asked me at the club.

Page 18- Till Death Do Us Part
CB to KK: I am madly in love with you too! More and more everyday! I can't believe how much more it grows. Is there a limit?
KK: not til death do us part.
CB to KK: Wow! I'll buy that. [boy did she ever]

I actually feel kinda sorry for them now. She almost had me cracking open my check book to contribute money to the Christine L. Beatty Legal Defense Trust. But instead I'll save my money to buy her a copy of "They Never Leave the Wife: The Memoir of a Mistress " or "Some Things Are Best Left Unsaid: Love in the Age of Texting."

I see two people living in a dream world. A fairytale. This was definitely fantasy land for Kwame and he never had any intention of leaving Carlita for Christine. In the back of her mind, she had to know that, but she still had hope in here eyes. Don't act like y'all didn't scrawl y'alls initials on a notebook combining you name with some boy you had a crush on... Most of us haven't done that as fully grown women, but you see my point. I would actually believe them if they said it was over in 2003 because she started to be more clingy and more of an emotional burden.. less fun.

Wake me when the criminal trial is over. The prosecutors will take care of any lying on the witness stand that took place. The voters, should he run, will issue their decision on whether they want this man to continue as their mayor. Beatty is already divorced. I hit my limit after this last batch. I have officially had enough. There will be no more LOL-ing or TBC about this here. ...SMH and LFOL -TTYL - if you don't know what I just said, you are a bad parent. GTG

Kwame Kilpartick Charged with Perjury, Obstructions, Official Misconduct

In that Detroit Melodrama involving about a half a dozen prominent Black women, Christine Beatty, the paramour, Carolyn Cheeks Kilpartick, the Mama, Carlita, the wife and Kim Worthy, the prosecutor... and growing, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been charged with perjury, obstruction and misconduct in office. In addition to all of you who say this is a private matter, the prosecutor had this to say:

"Some have suggested that the issues in this case are personal or private," Worthy said.

“At every bend and turn, there have been attempts by the city through one lawyer or another to block aspects of our investigation,” Worthy said. “Some documents have been turned over, but we have been told that others have been destroyed or lost. We don’t know when or by whom.”

She said the investigation wasn’t about sex, but about destroying the lives and careers of three good cops.

“Gary Brown’s, Harold Nelthrope's and Walter Harris’ lives and careers were forever changed,” Worthy said. “They were ruined financially and their reputations were completely destroyed because they chose to be dutiful police officers.”

She added: "Our investigation has clearly shown that public dollars were used, people's lives were ruined, the justice system severely mocked and the public trust trampled on." Freep.com

. As for Christine Beatty, she's been charged as well:

Beatty is charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice, obstruction of justice, two counts of perjury in a court proceeding and two counts of perjury other than in a court proceeding.

The Detroit Free Press has extensive coverage, including the cheers that broke out when Worthy announced the charged:

When Worthy announced perjury and other felony charges against Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff Christine Beatty, cheers erupted in the diner packed with 35 people on Jefferson.

Edward Baxter, 47, of Detroit toasted a full cup of water with several other patrons.

"He's got to go," Baxter shouted.

"It's about time," he said. "This scandal has gone on long enough. I'm disappointed that the mayor let me down, but he has to go. He put it on himself."

Donna Murray, 52, of Detroit said she is completely impressed with Worthy.

"She's excellent. She broke everything down in layman's terms," she said. "I think she's being fair." FREEP.COM

Kwame's Kilpatrick's Mommy: This Explains A Bunch!

I gave the link in a post last week, but someone YouTubed it. This is a must see. It explains a lot about Kwame Kilpatrick.Between his Mama, Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, Carlita Kilpatrick, and Christine Beatty, he just has to sit back and watch as the women in his life do the heavy lifting.

Christine Beatty, WAOD Wagging Finger of Shame Recipient, Resigns-- Toni Morrison Endorses Obama

Last week we gave Christine Beatty, the Chief of Staff to perpetually scandal-plagued Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, the Wagging Finger of Shame Award. Ms. Beatty shared the award with Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. Not because they both lied under oath, but because they chronicled their affair in embarrassing detail in 14,000 txt msgs on city-issued Blackberries.

Some people said "why is this news?". It is news because the arrogance and decision-making these two engaged in while carrying out the affair and again while covering it up led to the City of Detroit, already in a financial pinch, to hand out 9 MILLION Dollars to two wrongfully terminated police officers. What the verdict meant was that even without knowing about these 14,000 text messages, the jury didn't believe Ms. Beatty or the Mayor of Detroit. The jury thought they were both liars, and it turns out they were right.

This is also a WAOD story because of all of the Black women who are now in the spotlight as a result of the textual healing going on. And now, the cast of characters in ....

"AS DETROIT TURNS"

Christine Beatty, the Gifted Paramour and Protector
Ms. Beatty, despite her utter complete stupidity in the world of personal relationships is a very bright woman who has run successful, successive election campaigns for Kilpatrick. If you knew what a mess Kwame was, you would recognize how gifted this woman is as a political strategist. I give her some credit for having the self awareness to do what Kwame will not do, resign. Or maybe she is just resigning to help out her love. Who cares. Once again, she did the smartest thing she could do. I'd hire her. I just wouldn't let her have a Blackberry..or email...or pen and paper...or anything with which she could memorialize her thoughts or ideas.

Carlita Kilpatrick, the Devoted and Betrayed Spouse
Carlita Kilpatrick, the mayor's wife is certainly at the center of this mess. Right now she appears to be behaving in character. She's come out and done a kiss for the cameras and appears to be standing by her man, but how will she react to reports that just last week, Kwame was cuddled up in an Asheville, NC resort getting couples massages and eating chocolate covered strawberries with someone other than Carlita.

Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, the Doting Mother and Chief Enabler

Carolyn Cheeks Kilptrick, Kwame's everloving and enabling mother. Mothers are supposed to love their children unconditionally so I understand Kwame's mama repeatedly coming to her baby's rescue. But her Baby invoked her name, his aunt, his wife and all the other "strong women in his life" while lying on the witness stand abut whether he was having relations with Ms. Beatty. Mama Kilpatrick, he used you to cover his dirt. Check out Mama Kilpatrick defending her baby. Hysterical!!!! IF YOU NEVER CLICK ANOTHER LINK ON THIS BLOG, YOU MUST WATCH THE FOOTAGE OF MAMA KILPATRICK!

Mother's are supposed to love their male children, but Mama Kilpatrick needs to take lil' Kwame to the woodshed. Not for being a tramp and a trollop and causing untold anguish to her grand babies, not for dishonoring the family name, not for being arrogant with the use of money, goods and services he has access to as the Mayor of Detroit, but she need to pull out a green switch for documenting his utter complete stupidity. Mama Kilpatrick, you child is gifted, but he is indeed spoiled and your constantly enabling isn't helping.

Kim Worthy, the Prosecutor
Kym Worthy, many of you have heard of Kym from back in the days when she was an ADA. She went on to be a judge and now she is the Wayne County Prosecutor. She is investigating whether Beatty and Kilpatrick committed perjury among other things. Kwame called her days before the story broke (out of the blue- they are not close) and said he promised to be neutral in her upcoming race for reelection. I don't know if he was trying to pacify her in anticipation of any investigation or not, but in her appearance on Friday, I think she took just the right tone. She's in charge. There will be an investigation. She will be making the call. She won't be influences by "anyone or anything." Um Kwame, I think she was talking to you. Look out.

Toni Morrison Endorses Obama
On another note, Toni Morrison endorsed Barack Obama in one of the most eloquent endorsements I have ever read. I ain't an Obama stan, but she put forth a good articulation for why some folks might be. A better explanation than the Obama acolytes who routinely visit this blog with vague ramblings and accusations. She ain't Toni Morrison for nothing. I am still mad she started this "Bill Clinton is a Black man" foolishness.
